The government has planned the establishment of five Pakistan Television (PTV) boosters and three radio stations in tribal areas during the current financial year. Radio Stations at Wana and Miranshah and a TV booster in Wana have already been functional. This was announced by Governor NWFP Lieutenant General Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd) while addressing a representative Jirga of Dre Mehsud of South Waziristan Agency here at Governor's House on Tuesday.

The governor lauded the efforts of the Dre Mahsud's elders peace committee in restoring peace to the area to a larger extent and asked them to continue their efforts with the same spirit so as a situation of complete peace and tranquillity returns to the whole of South Waziristan.

He said that a development environment has been created in the Fata region as a number of donors as well as the federal government are willing for the uplift of this hitherto backward area. It is now up to you to take full benefit of this environment and bring prosperity to your own people, he added.

The governor said that those days are over when some of the miscreants from Waziristan were claiming that without their nod no peace could return to any part of the Agency. Today this claim, by the grace of Allah, has been proved wrong and at the end of the day we found that those people were unjust in their claims. I am proud to say that most of those people have shun the path of destruction.

The Jirga comprised leading Maliks and Ulema from Dre Mahsud. It was attended by secretary to governor Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad, secretary Fata Security Brigadier Mehmood Shah (Retd) and Political Agent South Waziristan Agency Asmatullah Gandapur.
